Aunt Bill’s Brown Candy

Aunt Bill's Brown Candy

Aunt Bill’s Brown Candy
Old-fashioned, creamy, pecan candy made with sugar, cream, butter, and pecans is this rich brown confection. For a family candy-making activity, prepare it.

Butter a medium heavy saucepan and a 9×13-inch dish.

In the buttered saucepan, combine 4 cups sugar and cream.

Place aside.

Over medium heat, add the final 2 cups of sugar to a sizable, heavy skillet.

Cook while constantly stirring until sugar starts to melt.

Put the pan of cream, sugar, and low heat on, stirring occasionally.

In the skillet, keep cooking and stirring the sugar until it is completely melted and light brown.

The melted sugar should be added to the barely simmering cream in a very slow, thin stream while being constantly stirred.

This procedure could take up to five minutes, and it works best if the melted sugar is poured very slowly.
