Chinese Sweet Bun Dough
Here’s the bread portion for making homemade Chinese-style baked pork buns, savory buns, or sweet bean buns. Fill these with your favorite Asian bun filling, and bake till golden brown. It takes a while, but it’s worth it.
In a sizable mixing bowl, stir the milk and sugar together until the sugar is dissolved.
Add the yeast and stir.
Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes or until a frothy layer forms on the milk.
The majority of the beaten eggs, vegetable oil, salt, and flour should all be combined well before adding more.
Save about 1 tablespoon of the egg for later use in a small bowl.
Place the dough on a lightly dusted work surface and knead for 10 minutes, or until it is elastic and smooth.
The dough ought to be a little bit sticky.
Put the dough in a sizable, oil-coated bowl, and then cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap.
Put the bowl in a warm location and give it 2 to 3 hours to double in size.
