Chocolate Lover’s Cake with Chocolate Buttercream Icing
Three chocolate cakes are layered with chocolate buttercream icing with a hint of coffee creating a very rich chocolate lover’s cake perfect for any occasion.
Set oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees C).
3 9-inch round baking pans should be greased.
In a saucepan over low heat, combine 8 ounces baking chocolate and 2 tablespoons cream; cook and stir until chocolate is melted, about 5 minutes.
Set apart for cooling.
Using an electric mixer, combine 1 cup butter, 1 cup white sugar, and 1 cup brown sugar in a bowl.
Once smooth, add sour cream, 1 cup coffee, eggs, and vanilla extract.
Blend the melted chocolate mixture in gradually.
Beat the flour mixture into the butter mixture until it is well combined and smooth.
In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Fill the three prepared baking pans with batter.
