Granny’s Strawberry Preserves-Filled Cookies
Lightly spiced cookies are filled with strawberry preserves just like granny used to make every Christmas.
Using an electric mixer, combine shortening, white sugar, and brown sugar in a bowl and beat until creamy and smooth.
To make “sour milk,” combine milk and vinegar, and let stand for five minutes.
Add vanilla extract and sour milk eggs to the shortening mixture.
In a big bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
Shortening mixture and flour mixture should be thoroughly combined.
2 to 8 hours of chilling time is required in the refrigerator.
Set oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees C)
