Lithuanian Kugela

Lithuanian Kugela
Kugela is a delicious baked potato treat and the national dish of Lithuania. It includes eggs, onions, bacon, grated potatoes, and the slightly sweet flavor of evaporated milk. Put some sour cream on top before serving!

Set oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees C).

Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish very lightly.

Cook bacon pieces in a sizable skillet over medium heat until crisp; transfer to paper towels to drain.

Half of the bacon drippings should be set aside.

Once again on the stove, stir the onions as they cook until they are soft and translucent.

Stir together the potatoes, bacon, onion, and reserved drippings in a sizable bowl.

Add eggs, evaporated milk, and flour.

To taste, add salt and pepper to the food.

Pour into a baking dish and bake in a preheated oven for about an hour, or until the top is nicely browned.

If desired, slice into squares and serve with sour cream.
