Buttermilk and hot sauce are combined with chicken pieces before they are cooked in an air fryer for extra crispy fried chicken that uses no oil.

Chicken should be defatted before being placed in a big bowl.

Pour 2 teaspoons of salt and buttermilk hot sauce over the chicken.

Ensure that all of the chicken pieces are coated, cover, and chill for at least one hour or overnight.

Achieve a 400°F air fryer temperature (200 degrees C).

In a shallow bowl or pie dish, mix the remaining 1 teaspoon of salt, the garlic powder, the onion powder, the oregano, the pepper, and the cayenne.

Shake off excess buttermilk as you remove the chicken pieces one at a time.

Turn to coat after placing in flour mixture.

Place the coated chicken in the air fryer’s basket, working in batches if necessary to prevent the basket from becoming crowded.
